Here to There by Larry Stuenkel
These questions
are similar to what you can expect during a real interview. Being
prepared will enable you to think on your feet.
The suggested replies, excerpted from From Here to There
by Larry Stuenkel, aren't intended to give you one correct answer.
Rather, the answers should reflect your personal frame of reference,
based on your motives, goals, work skills and aspirations. The replies
are meant to stimulate your thinking, not to be memorized.
Q: Why should we hire you?
You should reiterate why you are what the company is looking for
to sell yourself to the interviewer. Repeat your professional experience,
taking it directly from your resume. For example: "Because I have
15 years of experience in..."
Another alternative answer: "I think you should consider hiring
me because I am a capable manager of costs and profits. During the
last 15 years I have consistently cut costs and increased revenue.
Let me cite a couple of examples of these successful activities."
Using your resume as your interview script, cite quantitative points
— how you increased revenue or activities that have reduced costs.
Every dollar of cost reduction, of course, falls directly to the
bottom line.
