Excerpted from From
Here to There by Larry Stuenkel
These questions
are similar to what you can expect during a real interview. Being
prepared will enable you to think on your feet.
The suggested replies, excerpted from From Here to There
by Larry Stuenkel, aren't intended to give you one correct answer.
Rather, the answers should reflect your personal frame of reference,
based on your motives, goals, work skills and aspirations. The replies
are meant to stimulate your thinking, not to be memorized.
Q: Have you fired people before?
If you have been in a position where you have fired employees,
you would say, "Yes." If you haven't, say, "No." It is a simple
question. When asked what time it is, don't tell them how to build
the watch.
Q. Have you hired people before? What do you look for?
This also is a simple "yes" or "no" question.
What do you look for? "I look for someone to…" You want to show
that you have a recipe to hire the best applicant. When many companies
hire new employees, they don't know what they are looking for. As
they continue to talk to individuals, their thoughts on what they
are looking for change. Sometimes, the boss' boss gets involved
and the whole hiring queue gets changed around from the original
target or goal.
Show the interviewer you are an organized, prepared individual
and that before you begin to recruit, you know exactly what you
want from a candidate.
