These questions
are similar to what you can expect during a real interview. Being
prepared will enable you to think on your feet.
The suggested replies, excerpted from From Here to There
by Larry Stuenkel, aren't intended to give you one correct answer.
Rather, the answers should reflect your personal frame of reference,
based on your motives, goals, work skills and aspirations. The replies
are meant to stimulate your thinking, not to be memorized.
Q. What kind of manager was your former boss?
Psychologically, this may feel like a good time to vent any hostility
you have and hammer your boss. But an interview situation is not
a suitable forum for this because you will leave a negative impression
in the interviewer's mind.
The best thing to say is, "My boss was an excellent manager because
he/she allowed me to…" List several of the accomplishments that
you attained. Steer the conversation back to your accomplishments
— not your boss.
