Here to There by Larry Stuenkel
These questions
are similar to what you can expect during a real interview. Being
prepared will enable you to think on your feet.
The suggested replies, excerpted from From Here to There
by Larry Stuenkel, aren't intended to give you one correct answer.
Rather, the answers should reflect your personal frame of reference,
based on your motives, goals, work skills and aspirations. The replies
are meant to stimulate your thinking, not to be memorized.
Q: If you could start again, what would you do differently?
A negative answer to this question could hurt your chances as an
applicant.
If you make a negative comment about your previous employer such
as, "I would not go to XYZ Manufacturing because they terminated
me," you reinforce the negative, not the positive. Instead, choose
some event, career choice, decision that you made early in your
career and focus on a minor mistake.
Do not refer to your lack of education. Suggested responses: "I
would have changed my major to business earlier in college," or,
"I would have returned to graduate school at an earlier age."
