Excerpted from From
Here to There by Larry Stuenkel
These questions
are similar to what you can expect during a real interview. Being
prepared will enable you to think on your feet.
The suggested replies, excerpted from From Here to There
by Larry Stuenkel, aren't intended to give you one correct answer.
Rather, the answers should reflect your personal frame of reference,
based on your motives, goals, work skills and aspirations. The replies
are meant to stimulate your thinking, not to be memorized.
Q: Have you helped increase sales? Profits? How?
The answer to this question should come from your resume. Everybody
in an organization should work on profits because when you reduce
operating costs in a company this has a direct relationship in making
the company more profitable. Your work may indirectly affect sales
and profits, but if you have direct examples in sales then you would
want to use this information from your resume.
Q. Have you helped reduce costs? How?
Much like the previous question, take the answer from your resume.
Answer, "Yes," and give a definite example. "I made a suggestion
and I expedited a situation …" or, "I cut time to do …" or, "I improved
quality, thus reducing the costs by __%." Be specific.
