Excerpted from From
Here to There by Larry Stuenkel
These questions
are similar to what you can expect during a real interview. Being
prepared will enable you to think on your feet.
The suggested replies, excerpted from From Here to There
by Larry Stuenkel, aren't intended to give you one correct answer.
Rather, the answers should reflect your personal frame of reference,
based on your motives, goals, work skills and aspirations. The replies
are meant to stimulate your thinking, not to be memorized.
Four similar questions:
Q: Are you creative? Give an example.
Are you analytical? Give an example.
Are you a good manager? Give an example.
Are you a leader? Give an example.
With all four of these questions, the successful applicant will
take an example from his or her resume.
"Are you creative?" Answer, "Yes," and go to your resume.
"Are you analytical?" Say, "Yes," and go to the resume with
an example of significant accomplishments.
"Are you a good manager?" If you are a manager, the answer is,
"Yes," and give an example from your resume.
"Are you a good leader?" If you are, say, "Yes," and tell how
you've led a successful project.
Stick to your resume. Your resume took a lot of time for you to
prepare and you want to continually quote the bullet points from
it. Tell them once, tell them twice and tell them three times. They
are not listening that well to your qualifications.
Reiterate your significant accomplishments and responsibilities.
Remember: Commit your resume to memory and always have an extra
copy or two with you during the interview.
